Gotham typeface

Introduction
Gotham typeface is a geometric sans-serif typeface which is widely used across America. It was originally designed by Tobias Frere-Jones in the year 2000. The inspiration for its design was the mid-century lettering architecture of New York City. It is noticeably use in many advertisements varying from Coca-Cola to the ‘08 Obama Campaign where a special version of Gotham that had serifs was used. It was specifically engineered for the screen. A typeface described as masculine, new, and fresh by its creators. It is used to great extent in advertisements trying to feel modern and geometric.

Pitch
We went with this design because it shows off the clear look that the Gotham typeface brings to the screen. We wanted to highlight Gotham's connection to the city because it was based off of the New York city mid-century architecture which is why we added the buildings in the poster. We didn't want to do anything too crazy with the poster because Gotham is not a decorative typeface, but rather a clean typeface which is used in a variety of advertising and comics.
